Description
The LG 2,500-gallon external side-by-side refrigerator filter sits on the appliance’s water inlet line and filters the water entering the refrigerator without being placed inside the compartment. Its high capacity makes this inline filter suitable for longer use, and the activated carbon media helps reduce unpleasant taste and odor in the water.

How to Install the LG External Water Filter
High-capacity external filters (2,500 gallons) are an excellent option for filtering the inlet water of LG side-by-side refrigerators. To install or replace this filter, follow the steps below:
- Shut off the water: close the angle valve under the sink or the refrigerator’s inlet valve.
- Prepare the hoses: cut the ends of the hoses perfectly straight and square with a cutter.
3. Flow direction (FLOW) and flushing: connect the mains water hose to the filter inlet (the side without the FLOW label). Place a container under the outlet and let the water run for 30 seconds so the black carbon is flushed out; then connect the outlet hose to the side with the FLOW arrow.
4. Leak test: open the water and carefully check all connections to make sure no water leaks.
If you need deeper filtration, you can also consider the LG two-stage external filter.
